I never thought I would wake up one day and think “WOW, I am so thankful that I get to workout this morning”, or “I can’t wait to get my workout in this morning!!”

I use to be the kind of person that would get my workouts in, just to check it off my list. Basically, I wanted to enjoy my hamburger, fries and wine and not feel guilty about it! The “healthy” part of it all, never really crossed my mind, it was always more just to control/maintain my weight, and help me feel a little less guilty about myself when I would go out and enjoy my many many…MANY cheat meals!

 

I always had the habit of working out, my Dad instilled that in me at a very young age, so all through college, I would try to get to the gym or go running. I guess when you’re younger, the “I’m invincible” attitude plays a big role in the way you look at things, namely your health. You never think anything will happen, nor do you think about your later years.

 

Who wants to think about that when you’re 21 and high on life!!!?!??!

But as you get older, you start to see friends, friends of friends, family members dealing with health issues, you watch your parents get older, your grandparents get older, … you start to think about the years you have ahead of you.. and it gets the mind (( THINKING )).  

 

How do I want to spend those years, will I even make it those years???

 

It did for me anyway!! I know getting older is going to happen, and I know I don’t have 100% control over the health issues that may come my way. But one thing I do know, is that I have control over my choices, how I take care of myself, what I eat, and how active I am each and every day.

Before I got on my fitness kick, I wasn’t eating healthy, I would get winded walking up the stairs, I was ALWAYS tired, I ate WAY TOO MANY SWEETS, I lacked motivation and confidence, I drank too much, I always had a negative attitude, and I “disliked” my body. I was happy on the outside, but not on the inside. I knew I let myself go after kids, and that always ate away at me. I stopped doing things for ME, when I became a parent. I was a mom, a wife, and a daughter,… and I was doing everything that went along with that role….but I wasn’t taking time out of my day to do something that made ME better, that made ME happier!!! Don’t take this the wrong way, being a MOM is one of the greatest gifts in my LIFE, my kids are my everything… and they will always make me happy. But we can’t live life looking to others to always bring joy into our life, we need to be able to create that joy within ourselves as well!!  You need to feel good about yourself, you need to have a light that shines out to others, that makes others want to be around you!!

 

When my LOVE for Fitness and my passion ignited … my life changed. When I took control of my health, my body, set goals for myself, got RESULTS, I became BETTER!! Everything in my life became better! I found my gift,  it’s something I love and I now get to share this gift with others!!! It’s the best feeling in the world!

 

A passion isn’t driven by a paycheck…

Someone else’s approval won’t change your life…..

True happiness doesn’t come from money…

If you do what you have always done, then you’ll get what you have always gotten….

We can’t control the hand that is dealt to us, we can only control how we play the cards….

 

I’m not saying that Fitness needs to be your passion. But go out and find whatever ignites your soul!! I have seen so many lives change just from people taking control of their health. It’s not the weight loss, it’s the belief “IN YOU” that grows and eventually changes the way you see and live your life!! It’s setting your goal, sticking to it and becoming a better version of who you ALREADY ARE!!

 

FIND YOUR PASSION.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE.

LOVE YOUR LIFE!!

So, back to the question…. WHY DO I LOVE FITNESS?? Because through Fitness I found myself again, I have learned to step outside my comfort zone & challenge myself, it has taught me that CHANGE is a good thing! I no longer seek other’s approval, I don’t compare myself to others, I have seen fitness bring people together, I have seen fitness change people’s lives including my own, and through fitness I have gained a confidence in myself that I never knew existed!  

I love Fitness because having it in my life only makes me BETTER, HEALTHIER, and HAPPIER!
We only get one shot at this life, let’s make it count!!!
